What is calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA)

Calcium hydroxyapatite is a mineral identical to the calcium found naturally in bones and teeth. Radiesse contains microspheres of CaHA suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel. The gel provides immediate volume; the CaHA stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen for months.

Two effects, one product

How long Radiesse lasts

12 to 18 months typically. The gel carrier absorbs in 4–6 months, but the CaHA microspheres and the new collagen they stimulated remain longer. Some patients see visible improvement beyond 24 months from a single session.

Diluted Radiesse for skin quality

A specialized application: diluting Radiesse with saline and lidocaine creates a thinner solution that can be injected more superficially or in larger areas (neck, décolletage, hands) for skin tightening and quality improvement without volumetric change. Excellent for body skin laxity.

What to expect

30–45 minute procedure with topical anesthesia. Mild swelling 24–48h, possible small bruise. Final result evolves over 3 months as collagen forms. Aftercare: standard filler precautions (no exercise 24h, sleep elevated first night, no facial massage 1 week).
